A "volunteer" is any individual that may have unsupervised access to children participating in a SAY sanctioned activity, for the purpose of assisting in that activity. (This does not include parents observing their children during such activities.) While coaches best fit this description, other volunteers (such as team parent, officials, board members, etc.) could be covered under this program as well. The minimum acceptable standard is for all coaches and assistant coaches to fill out a SAY Volunteer Application annually.

ANYONE WHO WISHES TO COACH IN THE UPCOMING SEASON MUST COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS PRIOR TO COACHES MEETING DATES:

1. REGISTER AS A VOLUNTEER ON SAYNML.ORG.

2. COMPLETE A BACKGROUND APPLICATION. (DIRECTIONS ARE BELOW)

3. COMPLETE THE (2) REQUIRED TRAININGS (CONCUSSION TRAINING AND SAFESPORT TRAINING) THESE MUST BE COMPLETED IN 2024. THESE DIRECTIONS CAN ALSO BE FOUND BELOW.

4. UPLOAD YOUR COMPLETED TRAINING CERTIFICATES TO THE WEBSITE. IF THE OPTION ISN'T AVAILABLE PLEASE SUBMIT THE CERTIFICATES TO [email protected].

5. ATTEND THE MANDATORY COACHES MEETING FOR YOUR SEASON.
1ST SEASON: MAY 9TH AT 5:00 PM LOCATION TBD

Concussion Training
Complete training below. 
CDC Approved Concussion Training (Click title & it will redirect you to the website)
You must upload your certificate of completion to the website (see figure 3) or you may e-mail it to us and we will upload them for you.

Safesport Training
PLEASE NOTE: This training is lengthy and you can't skip through it so please complete in a timely fashion.

Safesport (Follow these guidelines if your account shows you have trainings with small warning signs by them-see Figure 2 above):

• Sign into your account at saynml.org
• Click the "Volunteer" on the left side.
• Click the check box for SafeSport
• Click renew/update and it will pop up a box that has a link in it. (see figure 2 above)
• Click the link or where it says "here" (see figure 3 above)
• On the SafeSport site you'll have to create an account and accept the privacy agreement.
• Click my courses (see figure 4 below your course should look like this)
• Complete the course, you can save your progress and complete it in multiple sessions.
• You must upload your certificate on the website. (see Figures 1, 2, & 3 above)
